J. R. Eyerman (November 1906 – December 1985) was an American photographer and photojournalist. Born in his parents’ photographic studio in Butte, Montana, the photographer developed a particular sense of ironic perspective and aesthetic sensibility that shaped his work throughout his life.

Eyerman took his first published photograph at the age of 10. In 1938 he started to work at Life Magazine. There he took his most iconic images documenting 20th Century history and culture ranging from atom bombs, high-speed aircraft, fast cars, and scientific marvels to America’s post-war urban exuberance, including Hollywood.
